If you're heading out on a spring or summer vacation, it's important that your childen keep up with their dental routines while on the road. Check out a few tips on how you can keep their mouths healthy while vacationing!
If you're going to be in the car for several hours, you’ll need some road trip snacks onboard. Unfortunately, munching on unhealthy foods during a long drive can reduce energy levels and leave you feeling drained once you reach your destination. Keep your child's mouth healthy by letting them munch on carrots, broccoli, celery and cheese sticks. Be sure to also pack plenty of water!
It's likely that at some point on your roadtrip, you will be making a pit stop at a rest area. Pack a few travel toothbrushes and toothpaste and use this opportunity to let your children brush and floss especially if they've been snacking in the car.
Just because you're on vacation doesn't mean you have to forget about nightime brushing routines! When you're settled into your hotel and are winding your children down for bed, remind them its time to brush and floss thoroughly.
If you have any questions or concerns about keeping your child's mouth healthy while travling, be sure to contact Pediatric Dentistry of Suffolk County I & II. We would be more than happy to assist you in any way possible!
