The highly anticipated spring season is finally here! Now that spring has sprung, it's safe to assume your to do list is growing by the day. Whether it be cleaning up your home, or signing the kids up for spring sports, we know it can get hectic! However, don't forget about your little ones oral health in the midst of all the springtime fun!

Check out a couple tips below on how you can tie your child's oral health into your spring cleaning routine.

Leave the (bad) snacks behind.
We know this one may be tough considering your children would prefer an ice cream cone over a bowl of strawberries any day of the week! Try substituting candy, cookies, chips and soda for snacks such as strawberries, apples, cheese, yogurt, and water. Their teeth will certainly reap the benefits.

Replace toothbrushes.
Spring is the perfect time to replace all the toothbrushes in your home. Keep in mind that throughout the year toothbrushes should be replaced every two to three months and immediately after being sick to prevent reinfection.

Brush and floss daily.

This may seem a bit obvious, however, it's extremely important that your children are brushing for two minutes, two times a day as well as flossing daily.

Routine visits.
Has your child been in to see us recently? If not, this is the perfect reminder to get those appointments on the calendar for check-ups and cleanings! Here at Pediatric Dentistry of Suffolk County, we believe in total preventative care which includes office visits along with continued oral health routines at home.
