Your child's first visit to the pediatric dentist is a huge step and milestone. Although this is an extremely exciting step, it can be scary for parents and of course your little one. Wondering what to expect on your first visit to Pediatric Dentistry of Suffolk County I & II? Learn more below.
- The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) along with our office recommend establishing your child's dental home by the age of one. Children who have a dental home by this age are more likely to receive preventative and routine oral health care. If your child's first birthday is approaching, it's time to schedule their appointment at our Commack or Medford office locations!
- If your child is old enough, we suggest letting them know about the visit and informing them that the dentist and staff will answer any questons they have. We believe the less "to-do" concerning the visit, the better. Parents can help set the tone and be positive and optimistic about the visit!
- During your child's first visit, we encourage you to stay with them to meet the team and during the initial examination. In the future, we suggest you let your child come along with just the team to allow us to gain their confidence and establish a closer rapport. However, if you choose to to accompany your child, you're more than welcome to join them in the treatment room.
- For your convenience, you can click here to fill out our new patient forms prior to your visit and bring them along with you to either office location.
