Unfortunately, winter doesn't only mean the coldest season of the year filled with freezing temperatures and blizzards. It's also cold and flu season!
During the cooler months when your children are more succeptable to getting sick, it's extremely important to remember to take care of their toothbrush! Check out these tips on just how to do so!
Did you know toothbrushes should be replaced every 3 months? However, if your child has a cold, the flu, sore throat or any mouth infection, their toothrbush should be replaced immediately to avoid reinfection.
After your children have finished brushing for two minutes, be sure to give their brush a really good rinse.
Once you've rinsed your little ones brush throughly, be sure to store it in an upright position in a toothbrush stand where it can dry properly. If you cover their toothbrushes or just simply toss it in a drawer or cabinet, it's likely to develop bacteria and mold.
If you have any questions about caring for your child's toothbrush, we encourage you to give us a call at either our Medford or Commack office. We'd be more than happy to help! To learn more about Pediatric Dentistry of Suffolk County I & II, visit us at www.supermolar.com.
