Is your child eating a well balanced diet? We sure hope so! A balanced diet plays a very important part in keeping your little ones gums and teeth healthy!
Diets high in sugar may increase your child's odds of tooth decay, the single most common childhood disease. A balanced diet consists of nutrients found in all the major food groups including fruits, vegetables, grains, protein and dairy. Children's snacking habits and types of snacks being consumed are also a major cause of cavity formation. How long food sits in their mouth and on the teeth also plays a role in tooth decay and cavity formation. Try having your children avoid snacking on sugary treats frequently and try snacks such as vegetables, yogurt and cheese.
If you have any questions about your child's diet, give us a call at either our Medford or Commack location. We would be more than happy to help make sure your child is eating the proper diet. For more information about our practice, visit www.supermolar.com.
