As summer edges closer, it becomes increasingly difficult for children to resist tempting summertime snacks – like ice pops and lemonade. Most of our favorite summertime treats aren't
exactly good for our teeth. That’s why we've scoured the web for teeth-friendly
summer treats. Prepare the following snacks for your children, and their teeth
will only grow stronger this summer!
Smoothies
Sure,
milkshakes are yummy and contain dairy, but they’re also loaded with sugar,
which can wreak havoc on kids’ teeth. As an alternative, throw together a tasty
and nutritious smoothie! For example, this watermelon
strawberry smoothie only has two ingredients – watermelon and strawberries.
It’s not only refreshing and hydrating, but also fat free, low calorie and high
in vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B6.
Sugar-Free "Kool-Aid"
Many
children turn to sugary drinks to cool down in the summer heat. It doesn't take
a dentist to know that these drinks are no good for oral health. Here’s a
refreshing substitute that your kids might just prefer: "Better
than Kool-Aid" Cool-Aid. This drink’s made from herbal tea, apple
cider vinegar and sugar-free sweetener, making it free of artificial flavors
and dyes.
Frozen Yogurt Pops
If
your kids can’t seem to stay away from the ice cream man, this recipe is for
you. Betty Crocker’s fresh
fruit frozen yogurt pops are super-easy to make and contain low fat yogurt,
fruit and a touch of honey. They’re loaded with calcium and phosphates that put
minerals back in teeth, making them healthier and stronger.
