Here are year round tips that can help there teeth stay
clean:
Before your little munchkin gets teeth, you can clean their
gums with a damp washcloth. When their first tooth appears wait 6 months then
take them to the dentist for their first visit.
- Make sure your toddler brushes
their teeth twice a day to get their teeth pearly white! (Right when they get
up and at bedtime)
- Create a song that is about 2
minutes long to brush along to.
- Look for a toothbrush that has
soft bristles so it doesn't hurt your child’s teeth. Having them pick out the
toothbrush gets them excited when its brush time!
- Children under the age of 5 should
use a pea-size amount of toothpaste when brushing.
- If your child likes fruits and
vegetables, try some apples, pears, carrots or celery. Your teeth will thank
you when you eat these foods.
- Drinking water can help your teeth
get strong! Be sure your children are drinking enough water!
- Make an appointment at Pediatric
Dentistry of Suffolk County at least twice a year to make sure your teeth stay
sparkly clean!
