Tooth decay is a serious and growing problem in children. Many parents are familiar with the importance of brushing and flossing, but nutrition plays a big role in preventing tooth decay too. Here are some tips on how you can reduce your child’s risk of tooth decay. How many are you familiar with?
Healthy Diet - Encourage your child to eat healthy foods. If they want to snack on sugary foods and candy, make sure they finish them right away. Lingering sugar can have an impact on their risk of tooth decay.
Drink Water - Fill sippy cups with water instead of juice. If they want a sugary drink, make sure they finish it within a reasonably short period of time.
Don’t Sleep With Bottles - Milk can cause tooth decay too! Sipping on a bottle for hours can be harmful. If you child wants to sleep with their bottle, make sure it is only water.
Brush and Floss - Keep their smiles clean with proper oral hygiene practices. Remember to encourage brushing twice a day or after meals.
